Accessibility Statement at The Woburn Hotel

Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

Pre-Arrival

For assistance prior to arrival please contact the reception team on 01525 290441. You can contact the hotel by telephone, email or in person. We are open 24 hours although response e.g. to emails, may be reduced from 11.00 pm to 6.00 am 

The centre of the village is a 1 minute walk, the centre of Milton Keynes is a 20 minute drive. There is a local taxi service that has accessible taxis if required, we can make the booking for you

Menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

All guests should use the main entrance to the hotel accessible from the car park off Park Street. There are three disabled parking bays next to the hotels entrance. The surface is level, flat and concrete with a small slope between the top and lower car park. If you need assistance with luggage, equipment or guidance our reception team are on duty 24 hours

Main Entrance & Reception

The front door has three steps 13 cm high. There is a ramped access with bell to alert reception to open the door.The ramped access is 86 cm wide with a brass rail to the left. There are no steps in the main lobby area. The front desk is immediately in front of you when entering the main entrance where there are a number of seating areas in the reception lobby.   The restaurant and bar are located to the left of reception. There are no steps or slopes on route or at the entrance to the restaurant or bar. The floor surface throughout the reception lobby is wood and staff assistance is available is required. 

Public Areas – General (Internal)

Our corridors to the ground floor bedrooms are 110cm wide with doors at least 95 cm wide, well lit and carpeted

Public Areas – WC

There are two sets of public toilets, one close to the banqueting rooms and corridor to the ground floor rooms and one in the main lobby area close to the restaurant and bar that has a unisex accessible toilet. The toilets provide:

  • 90 x 90 cm free space free of obstacles and doors
  • the access door is 80cm wide with the accessible toilet door 86cm wide
  • there is a vertical rail on the left of the basin
  • there are horizontal rails either side of the toilet
  • there is a vertical rail on the right of the toilet
  • there are lever taps on the sink
  • sanitary ware is white

Restaurant/Dining Room. Bar and Lounge/Lobby

There is a restaurant on the ground floor that is reached through the reception lobby area. Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the ground floor, there are no steps. There is a host desk on entry to the restaurant where staff will show you to a table. The restaurant is table service only, breakfast is a buffet service with table service on request. Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request. Menus can be provided in large print with prior arrangement. Lighting is mainly natural day light whilst for the evening lighting is low level with tea lights on the table. We are able to cater for varying dietary needs, please advise staff at time of booking

There is a bar situated on the ground floor that is reached through the reception lobby area to the right side. It has a level entry and is open plan with carpeted, even flooring. The bar area is on the right and has a few tall chairs around it, however there are a selection of tables and chairs available of varying heights. Lighting is mainly natural day light whilst part of the bar has low level lighting at night.

Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting, Entertainment

We have two main conference rooms on the ground floor that are accessed to the left of reception lobby.  Lighting is even but can be dimmed by individual conference organisers by sections. The Banqueting areas are carpeted throughout. 

Bedrooms

There are two accessible bedrooms which provide specific facilities for guests with special needs, one on the ground floor and one in our cottage complex adjacent to the car park these include:

  • Wide but light easy to open entry doors
  • Grab rails either side of the toilet – horizontal and vertical
  • Transfer space and turning space of at least 70 cm either side of the beds
  • Room service is available from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm.
  • Some small furniture is flexible and can be moved or removed on request

Ground Floor Accessible room

  • -          Wet room
  • -          Low and standing level spy hole
  • -          Double bed with bedding all non feather

Cottage Complex Accessible room

  • -          Level entry show with vertical grab rails
  • -          Double bed that can be made into Twin on request
  • -          Removable feather cover with all other bedding non feather
  • -          Bath with accessible shower

We have a set evacuation procedure for basic information – Alarm bells are a continuous alarm. Someone will come to your room and assist with evacuation out of the building. All front house staff have regular training that includes disability awareness training. All housekeeping staffs have been trained and are aware of procedures to aid privacy in bedrooms. There is limited network coverage for mobile phones within Woburn.

We are happy to take delivery of hired equipment please advise prior to arrival. We are a non smoking hotel, smoking is allowed in the patio area at the front of the hotel accessible by the ramped access and bins are provided
